MCU Wiki:Naming policy

The Marvel Cinematic Universe Wiki naming policy is a guideline used to determine the way for naming the different articles inside the wiki. Because of the wide universe we care about, it could be very confusing to name an article when the universe is increasing.

General conventions

• Due to the Mediawiki software configuration, the first article letter IS a capital letter by default. Yet, if you put a wikikink inside an article, you can type a small letter as first character, the software will automaticaly capitalize it when you click on the link.
• The first letter of each work should not be capitalized unless specification (movie and series titles, characters and persons names, organizations, newspaper title, etc).

Articles

Crew/Actors

• The common article naming is "First name Middle initial (if present) Last Name Particle (if present)" as written in the credits sequences.
  • Examples: Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg, etc.
• If two people share the exact same name, their main occupation should be added inside parenthesis after the full name (e.g. Person's full name (occupation)).
• If a female person has a change in her name (e.g. a marriage, a divorce, etc.), her last known full name should be used as article name, with a redirect from the previous name to the right article. The previous name should appear in the "other name" field inside the infobox.
